“The Reform Synagogue That Honors Jewish Tradition.”

Beth Shalom Synagogue is a Reform congregation and a member of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). We are a “family style” shul with a hamish, relaxed atmosphere. Our joy in expressing our Judaism is exponentially increased when shared with our congregational family. The essence of our shul family is truly the sum of the uniqueness and diversity of our members.

Temple Shalom - Lafayette
Visit Website
Jews began to immigrate to Vermilionville (the original name of Lafayette) in the early 1800s. They found an atmosphere in Vermilionville that spoke of opportunity for their skills, products, and services. Temple Rodeph Shalom was founded in 1869 as an orthodox synagogue. That same year Governor Alexandre Mouton donated land to be used as a cementery for the Jews of southwest Louisiana.
